Currently we’re in the midst of the Superbowl of cookbooks. Some of the most anticipated tomes of the year are now hitting shelves, just in time for the holiday season. We’ve said it before — cookbooks are something of an obsession at EyeSwoon. No matter how old-hat the concept, we’re still kind of amazed we can spend a modest sum in return for step-by-step instructions revealing exactly how to recreate the dishes concocted by some of the most celebrated, inspiring chefs around. It’s an invaluable education, and time deliciously well spent! Here are four fall 2016 releases we plan to pore over in the coming weeks and months.

  1. Simple: Effortless Food, Big Flavours
Recipes that are unexpected and packed with flavor yet are still simple — this is so up our alley. “Simple” is British food writer Diana Henry’s tenth cookbook, her latest release following James Beard Award-winning “A Bird in the Hand”.

    Release Date: September 8, 2016

  2. Everything I Want to Eat: Sqirl and the New California Cooking
Chef-owner Jessica Koslow of perpetually-packed Los Angeles restaurant Sqirl put her healthy Californian cuisine into her first cookbook. Unsurprisingly, it’s getting rave reviews. In it you’ll find recipes for some of Sqirl’s biggest hits, including raspberry and vanilla bean jam and the sorrel-pesto rice bowl.

    Release Date: October 4, 2016

  3. Food52 A New Way to Dinner: A Playbook of Recipes and Strategies for the Week Ahead
Swoony blog, shop, and community recipe site Food52 is soon releasing another cookbook! Along with offering more than 100 seasonal recipes, the book is also also part-planner, aimed at showing us exactly how to squeeze home cooking into our jam-packed lives by cooking ahead.

    Release Date: October 18, 2016

  4. Molly on the Range: Recipes and Stories from An Unlikely Life on a Farm
If you follow food blogs, chances are you know the hugely popular, sweet (literally and figuratively), and delightful site My Name is Yeh. Blogger Molly Yeh just released her first cookbook, and we can’t wait to see her recipes on paper and read all about her life on a farm on the North Dakota-Minnesota border.

    Release Date: October 4, 2016
