I’ve always been a girl who loves to dress up. More than anything, fashion, makeup and jewelry transport me to a completely fantastical and dreamy world.  When we get dolled up, just as when we played dress up in our early days, we willingly fall into a make believe world – a world that allows us to daydream, to be something else, someone else, perhaps a girlier, more elegant version of ourselves.  There is something magical, whimsical and totally imaginative about this fanciful notion…and I for one love it!

There is no denying that our mood can be affected by this transformation.  As much as I hate to admit it, the self we present outwardly can often times uplift our inner sense of self.  However, this is not to discount one of my strongest beliefs – that our inner beauty is at the core of how we present ourselves to the world.  Nevertheless, playing dress up is fun and occasionally a much needed and elating escape from our day-to-day lives!

When I delve into my own fantasies, fashion and jewelry tend to play a leading role, with elements of food always in the mix as well.  Recently I had the unbelievable honor to play dress up with Van Cleef & Arpels’ beautifully crafted jewels – theirs is a timeless brand that embodies elegance and delicacy inspired by nature. Van Cleef & Arpels exceptional jewelry depicts a reoccurring theme, one that reinterprets the wild poetry found within nature. Their use of clover and floral symbols in each piece captures the essence of femininity, grace and fate in the most swoon-worthy way.

So, when given the opportunity to create something beautiful with Van Cleef & Arpels, I knew I had to weave in the richness of fall fruits. Inspired by a palette of bold but natural tones, I incorporated richly saturated greens, representative of the lush grass at this time of year; the burnt shade of blood oranges currently found in abundance; delicate pink blossoms representing femininity and, finally, the warmth of the colors in changing leaves, ranging from yellow to red, brown and green. These hues dictated the direction of the shoot as I found fashion frocks in the same deeply saturated tones of rich silks and satins. The fruits and other natural elements, along with the rich clothing choices, elevated the jewelry and led me down the path to ethereal elegance. And, admittedly, playing this new role for the day was something I treasured.
