Setting a swoony table combines three of Athena’s biggest passions–design, food and entertaining. So it comes as no surprise we’ve put together quite a few holiday scapes over the years! Getting inspired by the season, selecting a color palette, researching and remixing ideas, and creating memorable moments–the process never fails to flood us with joy.
Taking a tour of Christmases past, here we rounded up our top three EyeSwoon holiday tables to date, from the tonal to the vibrant to the understated. From all of us at EyeSwoon, we hope planning your holiday gathering makes you feel festive, merry and bright. And regardless of what your table ends up looking like, may the people sitting around it fill your year with beauty.
Above: Figs, pomegranate and vanilla informed the color story of this dusky table created in partnership with Estée Lauder. The wintery inspiration appeared in more ways than one–pomegranates and figs adorned the tabletop, vanilla beans were bottled, tagged and given as take-aways, and the napkins were naturally dyed in charcoal on one end and pomegranate on the other.

Above: “How can I curate a table that is elegant and sophisticated while also remaining simple and approachable?” Athena asked herself this and a handful of other questions, and she answered them with this vibrant scene. She began with rich warm wood and black ceramics, then layered in pops of color and touches of brass. As is her style, she incorporated handmade elements, too. The chalkboard-paint-dipped wooden spoons serve as place settings and as a play on fortunes, she filled a dish with quotes about gratitude.

Above: A restrained, silvery palette was only fitting for this collaboration with The Line. “Winter wonderland” was the theme, and the table incorporated sage, lavender, white berries and blooms, with florals executed by the ever-inspiring dynamic flower duo Michael and Darroch Putnam of Putnam & Putnam. The menu was handwritten on brown paper bags filled spiced nuts, a treat for each guest to take home.
