Pari Ehsan’s Must-See NYC Gallery Exhibitions

The woman known for beautifully blending the worlds of art and fashion? That would be Pari Ehsan of celebrated site Pari Dust. She regularly frequents NYC galleries wearing fantastical outfits inspired by some of her favorite works and absolutely no artistry or imagination is spared in the process. Intricate chain link tops, cascading ruffles and head-to-toe patent leather have all made appearances on her site.

And as you can probably imagine, the results are off-the-charts swoony — so much so that she’s racked up a loyal following of more than 200K Instagram followers and a CFDA Instagrammer of the Year nomination. With a background in architecture and frequent collaborations with influential artists, Pari is a true talent, and I’m honored to also call her a dear friend. Today she shares with us the top upcoming NYC gallery exhibitions on her radar. Check out her picks, in her own words, below!

  1. “Jason Gringler’s multi-dimensional work explores modernist painting tradition through the use of unexpected materials. In his exhibition at Solivagant* Gringler engages the architecture and idea of place by replacing the glass facade of the gallery with two doors of expanded and mirror-polished steel through which a ‘blue screen painting’ is revealed. The reflective material pushes the viewers’ awareness into the present towards their own act of looking, offering a shift of perception.”

  2. Doug Wheeler, Encasements, David Zwirner Gallery
“Doug Wheeler is a pioneer of the Light and Space Movement in Southern California in the 1960s and 70s. Wheeler’s luminous installations provide an almost transcendental experience through space, volume and light. Meditative and all encompassing, Wheeler’s mind-bending effects are not to be missed.”

  3. “A favorite artist of mine and art world phenom, Auerbach presents a series of new paintings and sculptures as well as a selection of Weave paintings at Paula Cooper Gallery. For her new paintings, Tauba has devised a tool based on theories of divine expression through the use of ornamentation in architecture theory. Another beautiful addition to the show, a portion of the gallery library is dedicated to Auerbach’s publishing practice Diagonal Press, containing books of meaningful reference to her in relation to the exhibition.”

  4. “A stunning presentation of all the depth, colour and tone that is held in Ryman’s explorations in various hues of white. A deep awareness of materiality and light allows Ryman a revolutionary approach in his ability to convey an expanded idea of space and time.”
