SUMMER PITCHER DRINKS
Lest you spend the whole event tending bar, big get-togethers require equally-big batches of drinks. And since partygoers can be known to do some damage in the beverage department, it’s always nice to make it worth their while! So, here we rounded up 9 summery one-and-done drinks that don’t sacrifice “wow” factor, from sangria to boba tea to plenty of lemonade options. Each pick was either designed to be mixed en masse or could easily be multiplied to make larger quantities. Get your pitchers ready…
PEACH, STRAWBERRY AND BASIL SUMMER SANGRIA
We’re throwing it back to our own EyeSwoon post from this time two years ago with this refreshing sangria. Combining cava, peaches and strawberries, plus hints of basil and lavender, this mix continue to be a favorite of ours all season long.
LYCHEE AND ROSE BOBA WITH PISTACHIO JELLY
As a unique (and beloved) alternative to the typical summertime drink options, we have no doubt the boba pitchers would run dry if they were served up at a party! Multiply this Princess Tofu recipe accordingly, depending on your number of guests, and leave the jelly as a self-serve topping on the side. Keep in mind boba tea has milk, so you’ll want to keep it cold, and preferably even serve it indoors.
A hint of herby flavor can do wonders for everyday lemonade, and this delicately-garnished, thyme-infused Hummingbird High concoction looks like one we’d love to glug down.
ICED GREEN TEA WITH ROSE
Not only does this 101 Cookbooks creation look and sound incredibly enticing, we are also intrigued by blogger and cookbook author Heidi Swanson’s “hybrid, mostly cold-brew approach” to tea-making, which is intended to extract antioxidants while preventing over-brewing.
PASSION FRUIT AND LEMON-GINGER FRESCA
While this light, tart drink via Dolly and Oatmeal looks delicious as-is, you could always sub-in other tropical fruit, like mango or pineapple, if passion fruit isn’t available at your local market. The recipe is written to serve one, so just multiply the proportions to accommodate your party size.
You might recall this rosé-based sangria — it’s from our EyeSwoon cookout last year with Jodi Moreno of What’s Cooking Good Looking! With the subtle fruity flavor of apricots, blueberries and gooseberries, mixed with honey- and lavender-infused syrup and of course, rosé, it’s the perfect choice for any beachy get-together.
WHITE PEACH MARGARITAS
We love that blogger Emilie Raffa of The Clever Carrot likens this peachy drink to a “happy hour smoothie”, but if you want to go sans booze, she suggests adding sparkling water in place of the alcohol.
Mmm…summer in a glass. This lemonade recipe via Local Milk updates the classic summer staple with an infusion of honeysuckle, plus a handful of muddled herbs.
SPICY MANGO BASIL SANGRIA
Here’s a sangria with a kick, thanks to The Kitchy Kitchen. The inspiration for this packs-a-punch drink was blogger Claire Thomas’s love for the classic Thai trio of basil, mango and chile.
