Design 5 Swoon Worthy Things:

Cassandra LaValle

Having started her site back in 2007, Cassandra Lavalle of Coco+Kelley is basically an OG in the design blogger world. And if you’ve been following the space for awhile, you may have already had the good fortune of stumbling upon her bright, glamour-packed blog at some point. Serving up everything from pistachio cake to a spring bathroom, five ways, Cassandra’s site covers all areas of lifestyle — and totally fuels our desire to style and re-style just about every corner of our home. Read on to see what the Seattle-based blogger, and more recently, founder of event and interior styling company The Emerald Studio, has to say about everything from current trends to “approachable” design to the five items she’s eyeing.

Cassandra LaValle

NAME: Cassandra LaValle

PROFESSION: Founder and Creative Director of the lifestyle blog Coco+Kelley and The Emerald Studio, our design company.

HOME BASE: Seattle

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Rooted in the classic, but with an easy West Coast vibe. I’m all about using natural textures alongside a dose of high-shine metallics, and warm wood. I love when organic meets a hint of glamour.

YOUR AESTHETIC IN 3 WORDS: Fresh. Classic. Relaxed.

ONE YOU WISH WOULD GO AWAY? Scandinavian. I love it, actually, but there’s just too much of it right now.

COLOR OR NEUTRAL? Neutral… but not cold!

DO YOU HAVE ANY DESIGN ICONS? I don’t know if I’d use the word icon. I find inspiration in so many people and places, but I really look to people like Jenni Kayne, Heidi Merrick, Erica Tanov or even Kelly Wearstler who do that crossover between fashion and interiors so well.

  1. MQuan Ceramics: “Ceramics from artist Michele Quan. They’re beautifully sculptural and totally boho at the same time. And I love the moon themes!”

  2. Oslo Cutlery Set in Matte Copper: “I love using copper in the kitchen, so extending that to the table with this flatware would be amazing.”
  3. Distressed Oushak Rug: “The soft, worn colors of the vintage Oushak rugs from Old New House. I want to layer them all over my home!”

  4. Grey Chamarra Blanket: “I can never have too many cozy blankets — it’s the perfect mix of Scandinavian meets boho.”

  5. Serena & Lily Rowe Nesting Tables: “Cerused wood is having a moment right now, and these nesting tables from Serena & Lily are the perfect dose of it.”
