Holiday Winter Spice Cocktail

A signature cocktail is essential to any swoon-worthy gathering.  This particular cocktail from a Holidat feast I created at The Apartment for The Line conjures up the idea of sparkling “winter spice” to me which feel incredible festive! The Cointreau plays off the citrus flavors in the menu, ginger has a nice spicy bite to it that feels perfect for winter, and the prosecco makes it celebratory.

The fresh ginger and angostura play well together in developing a winter spice profile, as angostura has notes of cinnamon and clove that work so beautifully with the citrus notes found in the Cointreau.  The stunning crystal glassware from The Line acts as an elegant vessel for our spicy cocktail.

Who doesn’t love a little bubbly and a little spice around the holidays?

Cointreau Winter Spice Cocktail



1.5 oz. Cointreau

.75 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

2 dashes Angostura bitters

3 small slices of fresh ginger

2 oz. Sparkling Wine or Prosecco


Muddle the ginger with Cointreau, lime juice, and bitters in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Shake with ice and strain into a Champagne coupe or flute. Top with your favorite sparkling wine. Garnish with candied ginger.
