Wabi Mini Plate Set of 4

$240
The art of imperfection, celebrated. The family ceramic workshop created by Pierre Jars in 1857 continues a tradition of fully handmade manufacturing at a small village in the south of France. Using techniques that require some ten steps and twenty-one hand processes on average per piece, each beautiful object, plate and bowl preserves the storied secrets of generations of artisans. Jars irregular pieces feature remarkable, handwrought detail that inspire the simplicity of daily meals and happy gatherings to come. The Wabi collection pays homage to the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, a world view informed by an acceptance and appreciation for life's transience and imperfection. A melange of glazes are tossed or softly deposited with a ladle creating simple shapes of raw refinement. From oval dishes to cups, the raw patina and high contrast of noir and blanc ceramic pieces layered together lends ceremony and drama to the table.
