Design Room Swoon:

Subtly Seasonal

Subtly Seasonal
Wintry Texture

While we absolutely adore feeling festive this time of year, we’ll admit we’re not so big on the in-your-face red-and-green color combo. That said, we’re blown away by this luxe, subtly seasonal space, the Margot Molyneux fashion boutique in Cape Town, South Africa.

The rust- and emerald-toned seating area seems to give a nod to the classic holiday hues and the velvet, stone, and brass elements satisfy our need for sheen. Beyond the furnishings themselves, we’re also swooning the architectural elements of the room, from the high ceilings to arched entrances. Although we’ll admit we’d love to shop and lounge in this art deco-style interior all year round, the merry tones and textures are exactly what we’re feeling this winter.

Subtly Seasonal
  1. Anthropologie Marly Swivel Chair: There’s so much statement-making glamour in these round, rust-hued, and Hollywood Regency-style velvet chairs.

  2. Workstead Signal Pendant Lamp: Simple, slender, and design-forward fixtures from the firm that outfitted Barneys COOP and the Wythe Hotel.

  3. Ikea Vittsjö Shelf: Open, airy, and boxy black shelves like these provide contrast to the room’s rounded elements.

  4. Norm Oval Wall Mirror: A curved mirror mimics the silhouettes of the room’s archways.

  5. Gubi TS Lounge Table: These days you can’t pry us away from bold, beautiful marble patterns with dramatic veining.

  6. Brass Tray: No holiday table is complete without a little something shiny. This gleaming brass tray is perfect for corralling a carafe and glasses.

  7. CB2 Shore Polyterrazzo Planter: A crisp, clean-lined white planter elegantly camouflages itself against a white wall.
