A member of the Antwerp Six designers, Ann Demeulemeester’s poetic, layered garments first graced London fashion week in 1986. Her eponymous fashion line turns out darkly glamorous works, emphasizing elegant tailoring and layered materiality within a singular aesthetic — at once serious, edgy and romantic. Her designs evoke a sense of natural tension, balancing the masculine and feminine, gentle and severe, moody and light with razor fine precision.
