Lavender Linen Spray

Elevating the ordinary [simply] is the motto I live by. I swoon to create beauty for all the senses wherever I can.
I host guests often in my Amagansett home. Last summer when dear friend – and wingman – Jennifer Fisher stayed with me, she brought some lavender spray as a thoughtful gift. Whether this was psychosomatic or gospel, the entire family swore we slept better once spritzed upon our pillows; sending us off to the most restful, dream-infused sleep. I was instantly hooked!
Taking inspiration and turning the tables, I decided to create my own DIY lavender spray to offer houseguests.
Recently I teamed up with Food52 to share tips on prepping your home for overnight guests – I always yearn to give the spare rooms a little extra TLC when love ones stay. I included this handmade lavender linen spray. So many of you swooners asked for the recipe, so here it is!
I like to leave the bottle bedside in visitors’ room so they can spritz it on their linens before bedtime, to help make their sleep a little more restful. And beyond the stay, it also doubles as a sweet take-away to send home with them. Below are step-by-step instructions — and for my other suggestions on getting your place ready for friends and family, head on over to Food52.

The Prep
- Combine all of the ingredients in a glass or plastic spray bottle.
- Shake well and use.
- Will keep indefinitely.
The use of alcohol helps dissolve the oil in the solution and preserves the scent. I love to spritz the lavender spray on bedding or pillows to freshen up before guests arrive. Another swoony use is to spray on your sheets as you are ironing. Lavender is a soothing scent that is uber relaxing and aids in a restful nights sleep, while infusing the entire house with a lovely aroma.
