A Touch of Homemade – Menu’s & Gifts

I love simple ideas executed in thoughtful ways. With this in mind for the Holiday feast I created with The Line and Putnam & Putnam flowers I swooned to incorporate a hand made touch. I chose to purchase simple utilitarian brown paper lunch bags which acted as handwritten menu cards that doubled as table favors.

Inside the bags was a scoop of fresh-from-the-oven candied nuts: walnuts and almonds soaked in a mix of brown sugar, honey, salt, pepper, chile powder, and cinnamon.  Using something so basic and familiar is both crafty and yet a simple elevated touch.

These menu bags were place on the tabletop and finished with a fragrant herb and simply tied with twine with the help of Putnam and Putnam.  This sugar and spice touch was both useful – in sharing the days menu – and thoughtful as guests got to take them home with a little nibble inside.

To further this idea and stick within a cohesive palette – I wrapped the gifts under the tree in simple brown craft paper – again using a green element for that touch of nature captured on the paper menu bags and tied with baking string or twine.  As a sweet gesture I included a thoughtful quote to lay upon each loved ones gift – a beautiful sentiment and conversation starter.
