Exploring the interplay and intrinsic relationship between the abstract visual and the personal mind, artist Alexandra Yan Wong’s meditative paintings spark a journey inward. Built through layers of varied materials, her work draws on her studies of German literature and philosophy such as Carl Jung’s collective unconscious theory in addition to artists Rothko, Kline, and Park Seo-Bo. The process of creation is instinctual, following inner urges and existential narratives to conceive the final piece.
