Aliyah Sadaf is a mixed-media artist based in Chicago, Illinois. Her visually complex work pays homage to the nuance of human emotion and the duality of nature. Working from an intuitive process that references a childhood spent in Pakistan, Sadaf has cultivated an affinity for materials in their most organic form—be it concrete cracking under exposure to the elements or warm clay baking in the heat. Her raw, elemental works are imagined in concrete and intuitively layered with a melange of materials in recycled paper, cardboard, and acrylic. These heavily textured, sculptural pieces “seek to embody the imperfection that prevails in all aspects of our lives, our relationships, and our emotions” in the artist’s own words. Her latest piece, "Iridescent" serves to emulate one’s varying perception of their life when experienced from its many different facets. From ‘as it should be’ moments to incredible challenges and nuanced emotions, "Iridescent" highlights the ever-changing nature and patterns of our being. Each exclusive piece is created in a Limited Edition run of 5.
